A reader sent me this question:
“When you die what image do you take on – your last incarnation or do you choose? How would people from previous and present lives recognize you?” – Debbie
When you die your soul leaves your physical body. The body stays behind and your soul returns to the ether.
Generally speaking, souls are energy. Your soul carries with it a certain frequency and the experiences of your most recent life.
After your life review you will merge back into your higher self and rejoin your own collective. This collective contains all the experiences you’ve had since your soul was created by Source.
Your higher self is part of a collective as well, of all the souls that have ever been created. In essence, we are all aspects of Source consciousness.
So from a physical perspective, we don’t look human anymore. And we’re not seeing with eyeballs and retinas on the other side because we don’t have any. We have a consciousness.
But we carry an energy signature that is recognizable to other souls, such as members of your soul family. Your soul family will recognize you easily by your energetic signature, and you will be greeted heartily when your consciousness is once again focused on the other side.
Now here’s what I’ve found very interesting as a medium. When I tune in to a soul on the other side, they will often appear to me in human form. I’ve determined that they do this so my client will recognize them when I describe them. This is a service the deceased soul performs when communicating with humans back on Earth so that you know I’m connecting with someone specific.
Not all souls on the other side show me how they looked when they were in physical incarnation, though. Sometimes I just get their essence, their personality, and I wouldn’t be able to describe them physically. I can only convey what I’m given so I’m sort of at their mercy there.
Also, not all spirits are adept at showing a medium what they looked like, or even communicating with a medium at all, which is why sometimes if I try to connect with a specific individual for you, they don’t come through. They haven’t figured out how to make that connection.
In those cases, I usually connect with the person’s spirit guides (who know how to easily communicate with a psychic) and pass along information about how the deceased loved one is doing on the other side.
It’s all very fascinating to me. But rest assured when you get to the other side as an energetic being, you will recognize and be recognized by all your loved ones from this life and others.
