Corona Virus: What You See is What You Get

When it comes to the Corona Virus pandemic, what you see is what you get.

What I mean by that is that whatever you are focusing on will expand. Whatever you think about you are going to bring about.

So if you are seeing this pandemic as devastating, you are going to mostly notice what’s devastating about it. People are dying, people are hoarding supplies, governments are moving too slow, humans are robbing other humans. You’ll notice conspiracy theories running rampant, and you’ll find evidence where none exists.

You may also see neighbors helping neighbors, scientists working together to quell the pandemic, and politicians putting aside politics and becoming one nation. You’ll see our nation’s healthcare workers, first responders, grocery personnel, truckers, and other essential people working overtime in hazardous conditions to save lives and bring us supplies.

What you see depends on the lens you carry and the expectation you have of what is happening.

Reality is subjective. You attract what you expect. Your reality will mold itself to your expectations. It’s like placing an order with the universe. If you order a devastating pandemic with a side of panic, that’s what’s coming to your table. If you order time off to spend with your family and reconnect to nature, that’s what’s coming to your table.

If you don’t like the reality that’s shaping up around you, try substituting your current lens for another. Look at things another way. If you think that’s impossible, it will be, because that too is an order you are placing with the universe.

Try on a new perspective like you’re trying on a pair of jeans in the dressing room of life. See how you like it, see if it’s something you want to buy and take home with you. Wear it if it makes you feel more comfortable.

I’ve been part of several disasters in my life from the LA Riots, the Northridge Earthquake, 9/11, to the October 1 shooting in Las Vegas, and what I keep seeing is humanity coming together to take care of each other; people setting aside differences and working together to rebuild, better and stronger.

Nobody wants to experience a disaster, after all, they do take innocent lives. But there is an ebb and flow to life, and there are opportunities for good even in the worst of times.

Take a moment when you get up each morning and set your expectations. Ask yourself “What’s good about this?” And come up with at least 3 things. See if you can get to 10. Then see how the rest of your day goes. You may be surprised by what manifests around you.
