In my article, 11 Spiritual Truths You May Want to Remember, I listed 11 short spiritual truths. It received a very positive reaction, but some people wanted a little more information about what I meant. So I’m going to take each spiritual truth I listed and expand on it, each in its own article over the next 11 weeks.
Spiritual Truth #2: No one knows the whole truth. As you learn and study, take the pieces that resonate with you and throw the rest out. No one knows it all. However, everyone has something to share that is of value.
No one knows the whole truth
There is no objective way to know anything for sure. We could all be part of a big computer simulation, or this could be a dream, or you could be a figment of someone’s imagination.
Perhaps you are in a cosmic play, playing a role, but your real self is somewhere else. Maybe you are every single person on this planet, but you experience each life one at a time. There are so many possible explanations as to our existence, that you really can’t say with any certainty what is true, what is real, and what is not.
Take what resonates and throw the rest out
Instead of seeking a truth you can never find, begin to adopt a view of the world that resonates with you, that benefits you, that empowers you. In the absence of clear evidence, you may was well adopt a belief that serves you, because whether it’s actually true or not, it’s better to go through life happy than right.
Study and learn and experience all that you can. If something doesn’t make sense to you, throw it out. Don’t adopt a belief just because someone claims it is true. Experience it for yourself.
No one knows it all
In order to know everything you’d have to have experienced life from multiple perspectives. You’d have to have lived everywhere at every time in every possible situation, otherwise your data will be flawed by your personal and limited observations. You’d have to be omniscient.
Do not give your power to anyone who claims to have all the answers. The best spiritual teachers will share their experiences; nothing more. You are meant to glean information from those experiences and use them as maps to try things out for yourself. But as soon as you decide that one person knows the entire truth, you have put yourself into a box where new experiences will be blocked. Always keep an open mind.
Everyone has something of value
I’ve always said that we are pieces to a puzzle. No one piece is the entire picture, but you put them all together and step back and you can begin to see the bigger picture. Therefore, I believe every person alive today is valuable, because they are a unique piece to the puzzle.
Everytime you interact with someone on this planet, get their story. Listen to their perspective. They have experienced this world from a perspective that you never can. As you gather information from many sources, you’ll get a glimpse of what life is all about. Everyone has value. Treat everyone like the unique piece of the puzzle that they are.
