Is every event of our lives predetermined? Is our entire course laid out for us and no matter what we do or how we try to avoid it, our lives will unfold in some predetermined way? Is there such a thing as fate or destiny? If so, what about free will? Aren’t we supposed to have the freedom to choose our actions? Isn’t free will negated if fate exists?
As a psychic, I am able to tune in to someone and see past and future events. Doesn’t that suggest destiny is predetermined? If it isn’t, how could I see what’s going to happen in the future? And yet, I tell people all the time they have the power to change their future if they want to. One of the reasons to get a psychic reading is so you can avoid upcoming pitfalls. But if they can be avoided, that must mean destiny and fate do not exist.
For the past several months I’ve been trying to understand and determine if we are all living scripted lives that we cannot change or if we have free will and the ability to completely change our fates. It didn’t seem to me that both could be right at the same time. Finally I just asked my guides and they explained it to me. Here is how they explained it.
Before we are born, our higher self gets together with other, wiser, spirits to work out a plan for our next incarnation that includes major life events such as who are parents will be, who our siblings will be (if any), our marriage partner, kids, career, and many other events too numerous to list.
Imagine there is a maze in front of you and it represents your life. At one opening is your birth and way across the maze is another opening that is your death. Inside the twisting corridors of the maze, our higher self and these other spirits place major life events (think of it like placing cheese in a maze for a rat to run around in.) Those events are placed there on purpose. This is the predestined aspect of your life. How you end up arriving at each of those events is where free will comes into play.
Once you incarnate you forget what your maze looks like. But somewhere inside of you, you can still sense where the “cheese” is so you are naturally attracted to those events. You learn to take corridors in your maze that you think will bring you closer to getting that “cheese.” Sometimes you think the “cheese” is close but you run into a dead end and have to back track. Maybe it was just on the other side of the wall but you can’t get to it without taking another route. Eventually, if all goes well, you find all the “cheese” your higher self has left for you to find, and you emerge out the end of the maze older, wiser, and happily stuffed.
Now what happens when something goes wrong? Free will is like a wild card. If you want, you can enter your maze and go down an interesting corridor and stay there. You don’t actually have to go anywhere and you don’t actually have to find any cheese at all. You may smell the “cheese” in a certain direction but maybe you’re afraid to go down the path that will get you there. In those cases, your spirit guides step in and try to entice you with the smell of that “cheese” or they try to light a fire under your butt to get you moving again. Your higher self and spirit guides are in charge of getting you to those life events in your maze.
But in the end, you absolutely have free will to determine where you will go, how long it will take you to get there, and who you bring with you along the way.
Add in the fact that other people’s mazes intersect yours (you may be the “cheese” in someone else’s maze like your future spouse’s or child’s maze) and you can see how hard it is to get to all the “cheese” in your maze. Sometimes you get confused and start going after “cheese” in other people’s mazes. You get derailed from traversing your own maze. Again, your guides and higher self will try to intervene, but there is only so much they can do. They can lead you to the “cheese” but they can’t make you eat it. You’ll experience these nudges as flashes of intuition, frustrating roadblocks in life, incessant nagging from your mother, a synchronistic article, and so on.
No matter what you do in life, your time in the maze will come to an end (willingly or unwillingly, by accident or even on purpose). If you don’t make it to every life event you designated for yourself, that’s okay. Those events may reappear in a different life or they may not.
While you are traveling through the maze of your life, see if you can smell the “cheese.” As you go along in life, you should – hopefully – become better at detecting where the “cheese” is. You’ll learn to avoid going down a long and hopeless corridor that leads to nothing. If you’re paying attention, you can get to all your major life events with little fuss or muss. The journey is sometimes long and sometimes short. You can even choose to hang out in your maze after you’ve found all the cheese. Your guides and higher self can place more events into your maze even while you’re traveling through it. In some cases, with conscious will and some acquiescence from your guides, you can even change the “cheese’s” location. Kind of like when you’re having a lucid dream and you change the characters and content of your dream.
So if you don’t like where you’re headed in the maze of life, you can change it. While events are somewhat predetermined, you have the final say as to where you go, when you arrive, and who you arrive with. When a psychic tells you what’s coming up ahead, she is detecting some “cheese.” It’s up to you to decide if you want to go there or take another route, or go after different “cheese” altogether.
No matter how you slice it, life can be pretty cheesy. Try not to bring whine to the party if you can help it. 😉
P.S. This has been a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood cheese detector. 🙂
